How to Play Suguru

Suguru is a Japanese number puzzle played on a grid divided into irregular groups called cages.

Short rules

  1. Fill every cell with a number — the maximum value equals the size of its cage.
  2. No two cells sharing an edge or corner may contain the same number.
  3. Each cage must contain the numbers 1 through N exactly once (where N is the cage size).

How to Play

  • Start with the smallest (single-cell) cages — they always contain 1.
  • Two-cell cages can only hold the numbers 1 and 2.
  • Adjacency is the key constraint — use it to eliminate options quickly.
